About Us
Strokefocus is an open-source collaborative project run by survivors, caregivers, support groups and professionals to create better stroke care and support.
The project started as Wohaula which means “I got better” in Mandarin. Later, we renamed it Strokefocus.
The team estimates that in the US alone, 99.9% of all those impacted by stroke or traumatic brain injury (TBI) have no long term post-discharge support. It is our mission to find a sustainable model to bring post-discharge peer support to everyone who needs it.
Strokefocus welcomes anyone who shares our philosophy to join as a collaborator. We value trust, integrity, independence, and collaboration. The team runs on the following philosophy:
- Stroke survivors and caregivers are assets, not liabilities in our monumental journey to create better stroke care.
- The way to improve stroke care is to enable and empower local support organizations. And it is of utmost importance that participating organizations shall reap the fruit of their innovative ideas, both socially and financially.
- Each participating team must become successful in its own right. The independence of each participating organization is the most important factor in our success. Strokefocus provides an enabling platform to help stroke and TBI support organizations grow and prosper. You join our collaborative community to build your success. Everyone in the community will benefit from your success. We believe Strokefocus can only be viable if all participating organizations become successful together.
- No one has all the answers, but each of us has something very unique to offer. Together, we will create something wonderful.
We would love to hear your story and understand how we may help.
